Rotary Engine is a kind of an engine. It was invented in 1959, by a German engineer called Felix Wankel. The difference between Rotary Engine and Plunger Engine is that the Rotary Engine has a triangle wheel in it. That makes Rotary Engine has more horsepower than the Plunger Engine. But only Mazda cars have it because it easily leak the air.
